Proposed Tuition and Fees Increases

Florida State University gives public notice of proposed increases to Out-of-State student fees, effective Fall 2025.  Details on the proposed fee increases are available at the bottom of this page.

The FSU Board of Trustees will consider the proposal at a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24  (meeting dates and times are subject to change). Continue to monitor the Board of Trustees website, https://trustees.fsu.edu/meetings, for potential changes to the next meeting date and time.

Rationale and Use of Funds

  • Out-of-State Fee - This fee maintains the quality, accessibility, and competitiveness of academic offerings and student services in the face of rising operational costs. This fee was last increased over ten years ago. This increase ensures that out-of-state students contribute toward the total cost of instruction, facilities, and services provided by FSU.
  • Out-of-State Financial Aid Fee - This fee funds student financial aid awards and associated administrative costs. Like the Out-of-State Fee, it has remained unchanged for more than ten years. During this time, the university has significantly expanded its need-based and merit-based programs. The proposed increase will help to offset the growing cost of these programs.

In accordance with state law, this notice is also being emailed to all enrolled students.

Proposed Tuition and Fees

*Distance Learning academic programs are offered through academic departments as fully online programs of study. These rates are unique to programs offered fully online through the Office of Distance Learning, not programs that are generally offered online separate from a distance learning academic program. These rates do not include pricing for courses coded as non-fundable or market rate, which are variable based on academic program of study.

Definition:

Distance Learning Student: A distance learning student is one who is coded as such in the Office of the University Registrar. Note that students are assessed distance learning rates when they are coded as a distance learner student based on policies established by the Registrar but that all students enrolled in online courses are not automatically deemed distance learners for tuition purposes.
